TOUR  ITINERARY

 

DAY 1: AIRPORT/KANDALAMA

On arrival welcome by a representative and proceed to Kandalama.

Check-in at Hotel Heritance Kandalama – A Geoffrey Bawa design.

Conduct a hotel inspection of Heritance Kandalama.

Spend the evening at leisure.

DINNER AND OVERNIGHT STAY AT THE HOTEL – HERITANCE KANDALAMA.


DAY 2:  SIGIRIYA CITY TOUR

AFTER BREAKFAST PROCEED ON A CITY TOUR IN SIGIRIYA.

VISIT SIGIRIYA ROCK FORTRESS (OPTIONAL).

Sigiriya Rock Fortress- Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres (660 ft) high. According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Culavamsa, this site was selected by King Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE) for his new capital. He built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colorful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion.

DAY 3: SIGIRIYA/KANDY

AFTER BREAKFAST PROCEED TO KANDY.

EN ROUTE VISIT DAMBULLA CAVE TEMPLE (OPTIONAL).

Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses. The latter include Vishnu and the Ganesha. The murals cover an area of 2,100 square meters (23,000 sq. ft.). Depictions on the walls of the caves include the temptation by the demon Mara, and Buddha’s first sermon.

DAY 4:  KANDY CITY TOUR

Kandy Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It’s set on a plateau surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and biodiverse rainforest. The city’s heart is scenic Kandy Lake (Bogambara Lake), which is popular for strolling. Kandy is famed for sacred Buddhist sites, including the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine, celebrated with the grand Esala Perahera annual procession.

Temple Of Tooth- Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha.

Kandyan Dance is a dance form that originated in the area called Kandy of the Central hills region in Sri Lanka. But today it has been widespread to other parts of the country.

DAY 5: KANDY/ AHUNGALLA

After breakfast proceed to Ahungalla.

Conduct a hotel inspection of Heritance Ahungalla.

Spend the evening relaxing at the hotel.

DINNER AND OVERNIGHT STAY AT THE HOTEL – HERITANCE AHUNGALLA.


DAY 6:  AHUNGALLA / GALLE / AHUNGALLA

After breakfast proceed to Galle to visit Galle Fort and to conduct an inspection of Jetwing Lighthouse – A Bawa designed property.

Return back to hotel.

DINNER AND OVERNIGHT STAY AT THE HOTEL – HERITANCE AHUNGALLA.


DAY 7: AHUNGALLA / COLOMBO

AFTER BREAKFAST CHECK-OUT FROM THE HOTEL AND PROCEED TO COLOMBO.

Colombo-Colombo is the largest city of Sri Lanka, with a population of 4,575,000 metropolitan areas, in the city limits. It is located on the west coast of the island and adjacent to Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte (which is the official capital of Sri Lanka) suburb or the parliament capital of Sri Lanka.

Colombo is also the administrative capital of Western Province, Sri Lanka and the district capital of Colombo District. Colombo is often referred to as the capital since Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte is a satellite city of Colombo. Colombo is a busy and vibrant place with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings and ruins it was the political capital of Sri Lanka, before Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte.

OVERNIGHT STAY AT KINGSBURY COLOMBO.


DAY 8: COLOMBO CITY TOUR

AFTER BREAKFAST PROCEED ON SITE SEEING IN COLOMBO.

Visit the Bawa residence Number 11.

Lunch at The Gallery Café – housed in the former offices of Geoffrey Bawa (Optional).

Return back to the hotel.

OVERNIGHT STAY AT KINGSBURY COLOMBO.


DAY 9: COLOMBO / AIRPORT

AFTER BREAKFAST CHECK-OUT AND PROCEED TO AIRPORT FOR DEPARTURE.
